New Work from Brian Doherty Photography
Ive been to a lot of amazing homes lately in and around the South Shore of Boston. Each home had its own unique set of challenges to photograph. But its those shots that force me to work harder and improve my skills each and everyday.

Movember Selfie
Its not the fullest of mustaches I know (I tried my best). But anything I can do to help raise mens health awareness is good with me no matter how many awkward stares I get. Maybe by next November It will be nice and full.

Brian Doherty Real Estate Lighting
Im often asked how I get my images to look so nice and bright. Followed up by what kind of camera I have etc etc. However what most people don't realize is that its not so much the camera but more so how your able to manipulate and control your lighting. Don't get me wrong the other stuff helps, but lighting is the most important part of a great photo. Let’s have a look at what goes into making a photo pop of the page. Here are two behind the scene looks at how I use speed lights to light interiors.
The first thing I do after I find my composition is to expose for the windows. What does that mean? well normally it’s pretty hard to subtract light, and that means that I’m going to expose for the bright stuff, such as the windows and light up the rest of the room.
Here is the shot el natural with no added light, right out of the camera.

YIKES!! obviously thats way to dark, so what I have to do is figure out where to put my lights to fill in all these dark shadows.
For the final shot I used 3 flashes. One shot through an umbrella towards the chair. Another bounced off the wall behind me to light the foreground of the photo. Then a third bounced of the fair left hand wall to light up the left side.
Room 2
Again like above I expose for the windows.
Way to dark. So I must figure out were to bounce all my light and fill in all the shadows.

Final Result.

Brian Doherty Property Video
My first attempt at using a video slider at a property shoot. Mixing smooth video and voice over audio. Not bad for a first attempt if I do say so myself.

My First Real Estate Magazine Cover !!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season and did something fun to ring in the new year. 2012 is starting off right. Things over here at Brian Doherty Photography and Design have been WICKED busy. Very excited to be on the front of The Real Estate Book. This is my first cover (hopefully the first of many). This was such a beautiful house in Hanover, MA. In order to get the whole house in the shot, I had to stand on top of my car with my camera attached to a 7 ft mono pod. Lucky nether myself or the camera lost our balance.

In Real Estate a Picture is worth Thousands of Dollars.
A picture is can be worth a thousand words..... in Real Estate its worth thousands of dollars. Next to listing a property on the local MLS and the internet, making the property look attractive to buyers is the most important thing an agent must do. With 80% of home buyers shopping for a home online (according to the NAR), the way your listings look is an important factor, if not the most important, in generating buyer interest. It's no secret, better-presented homes get more traffic and more buyer interest, therefore selling faster. More than ever, your listings must stand out from the crowd.
